nuuna @ DAS HAUS by MUT Design
The international furnishing fair imm cologne will be opening its doors again from 13 to 19 January. This year, we find the design project DAS HAUS particularly exciting - the installation of a walk-in living space, which is designed each year by a newly nominated designer or design team.
This year's design comes from the design team MUT Design from Valencia. "A la Fresca!" – out into the freshness before the door – is what Alberto Sánchez and Eduardo Villalón call their architectural concept. The name refers to the culture of evening meeting up in streets and squares, which still persits in Spanish villages. DAS HAUS by MUT Design is reminiscent of a classic pavilion: composed of a circle and square, furnished in a minimalist style and open on all sides. The idea behind it is the idea of a hybrid space that separates inside and outside and opens up living not only to nature but also to community life in the streets and squares.
The round floor plan is framed by a square plane that reflects metallically. Artificial light is avoided as far as possible. The retreat in the centre – the “refuge” – is placed between sloping wall panels and is illuminated by a light source that imitates natural sunlight as it travels through the day. This centre is surrounded by four veranda-like spaces: a room for relaxation and dressing, an activity area, a kitchen and an area for personal hygiene. These semi-circular sections of space are connected to each other via the outer sides.
“Our intention was to soften the boundaries between indoors and outdoors,“ says Alberto Sánchez of MUT Design, summarising the concept. MUT Design was definitely successful with this: flowing transitions from inside to outside and fluid rooms that are open for individual and changing functions. We are enthusiastic about this modern architectural concept with its simple geometric shapes and are proud that nuuna is part of this production. Our notebook FLUID CHROME M is placed in the living area of the house and reflects the moving light of the light installation. Several VOYAGER L Grey notebooks are located in the open kitchen. The grey jeans label cover of the books fits perfectly into the calm and natural harmonious colour schemes of the room.
A truly visionary living concept – we are inspired.
